I'm a software engineer in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I work fully remote. Twenty-plus years shipping production software, fourteen of them continuous Ruby on Rails.

I often find myself in the gap between applications and infrastructure. Deployment pipelines, monitoring stacks, auth layers, the work that makes everything else go. I like building things other engineers can ship on without thinking twice about what's underneath.

Right now I'm building Ruby on Rails apps for various clients, tooling for AI agents, and a lot of DevOps.

  • Built and operated a client's core business platform in Rails (upgrades from 7.0 through 8.0): real estate analytics with automated monthly reports, a loan-officer sales tool used several times per day, and a CMPS certification LMS for mortgage professionals.
  • Replaced fragmented per-application authentication with a centralized OAuth provider serving three client-facing applications, adding HubSpot CRM webhook processing, distributed locks for concurrent updates, and cross-service user synchronization.
  • Built MCP servers, multi-agent orchestration, and an automated code review agent with eval-driven quality gates. Enforced agent boundaries at the tool level, not the prompt level: agents get scoped capabilities but never credentials.
  • Shipped a CDL training LMS with FMCSA-compliant ELDT coursework and certificate generation for a trucking school client.

  • Shipped production Rails features across warehouse management, multi-carrier shipping integrations, and purchase order workflows: inventory transfers, pick/pack/ship operations, carrier onboarding, and freight calculations touching daily fulfillment across multiple facilities.
  • Designed and built new domain systems including a vendor product measurements architecture with bidirectional model sync and an inventory transfer manifest system supporting pallet-level tracking, shipping, and receiving across facilities.
  • Developed handheld-scanner features in Flutter against the Rails API, including offline-tolerant behavior so floor staff weren't blocked when network coverage dropped in warehouse racks.
  • Researched BLoC and brought the proposal to a three-engineer Flutter team after state ownership had become inconsistent across nested widgets. The team adopted it as a shared contract for where state lived and which components could change it. The lasting win wasn't the library; it was establishing a consistent pattern.

  • Developed Rails and Node.js APIs powering an MSP client portal and internal security-incident workflows, with an Apache Airflow data platform parsing logs and data from 10+ vendor systems including FortiSIEM, AlienVault, and ConnectWise.
  • Built and maintained infrastructure across 100+ VMs spanning on-prem (vSphere) and AWS as the primary infrastructure engineer on a team with no dedicated DevOps role. Wrote the Terraform IaC stack, Ansible deployment playbooks, and Docker base images that the rest of the engineering team shipped on.
  • Replaced manually triggered Jenkins deploys with Drone CI after the host-installed dependency model broke as Ubuntu hosts aged out of support. Chose Drone because every project already ran in Docker, making the migration an easy lift. Wrote a custom Ansible deployment plugin used across the organization's Rails, Node.js, and Airflow services.
  • Led the team from near-zero observability to full infrastructure monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana, covering host health, service availability, and ETL workflow metrics. Chose Prometheus over Sensu and New Relic after we evaluated all three.
